Short Safaris

4 Days in Tanzania The Iconic Wildlife Safari Loop

This 4-day safari adventure offers a rich loop through Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife destinations. You’ll witness the endless plains of Serengeti National Park, descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, and wrap up in the baobab-studded landscapes of Tarangire. Designed for those looking to maximize wildlife experiences in a short timeframe, this safari delivers nonstop game viewing, scenic drives, and memorable overnights in authentic African lodges.

In Serengeti, you’ll track lions, cheetahs, elephants, and (seasonally) the wildebeest migration across golden savannahs. The Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s largest volcanic calderas, offers a unique opportunity to spot the Big Five in a single day. Finally, Tarangire’s lesser-traveled terrain is a photographer’s paradise, especially during the dry season when wildlife congregates along the Tarangire River.

Accommodations along this route are selected for comfort, location, and atmosphere. You’ll stay in mid-range lodges that provide en-suite facilities, fresh meals, and warm hospitality—making your wildlife adventure both thrilling and comfortable from start to finish.
Day 1: Arusha to Serengeti National Park – Overnight in Central Serengeti

Your day starts with an early departure from Arusha as you head west toward the legendary Serengeti National Park. Along the way, pass through the Ngorongoro Highlands and enjoy scenic vistas, Maasai villages, and optional stops like Olduvai Gorge. By midday, you’ll enter the Serengeti and begin your game drive en route to your camp in the central Seronera region.

In the afternoon, you’ll track predators, large herds of grazers, and birdlife across the plains. The central Serengeti is known for year-round wildlife activity. After a rewarding day, arrive at your tented camp in time for a sundowner and a hearty dinner under the stars.

With its permanent water and grazing grounds, the crater floor is home to a high density of animals, including rhinos, lions, zebras, hippos, and massive tusker elephants. It’s one of the few places where you might spot all of the Big Five in a single day.

Your guide will take you across the crater floor, stopping for a scenic picnic lunch near the hippo pool. In the afternoon, you’ll ascend the crater walls and drive toward the Tarangire region, where you’ll enjoy dinner and overnight at a charming lodge nestled near the park’s boundary.

Tarangire’s terrain shifts from river valleys to open plains, making for diverse game-viewing and excellent photo opportunities.
