Tanzania is home to some of the most diverse ecosystems in Africa, with over 30% of the country protected as national parks, reserves, and conservation areas. Highlights include:
Serengeti National Park – World-famous for the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra.
Ngorongoro Crater – A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best places to spot the Big Five.
Tarangire National Park – Known for its giant baobabs and large elephant herds.
Lake Manyara – Home to tree-climbing lions and hundreds of bird species.
Ruaha & Nyerere (Selous) – Off-the-beaten-path gems rich in wildlife and fewer crowds.
Tanzania is also home to rich cultural experiences with over 120 tribes, including the Maasai, Hadzabe, and Chaga communities — experiences we respectfully integrate into our itineraries.

As our name suggests, Eco Trail Expedition is dedicated to low-impact travel. We partner with local lodges and tented camps that follow eco-friendly practices, use solar energy, reduce plastic waste, and support conservation efforts. Our guides are locals who share a deep passion for wildlife, culture, and environmental stewardship.
Tanzania is a year-round safari destination, but the best time depends on your goals:
June to October: Dry season, best for general wildlife viewing and the Migration in Northern Serengeti.
November to March: Short rains followed by green season; perfect for birdwatching and calving in Southern Serengeti.
April & May: Long rains; fewer crowds and lush landscapes for photographers.

We visited places in and near Old Moshi on the first trip and some villages, a church and hospital near Kiboshi not far from Moshi on the second. Both tours were excellent in terms of guiding and very authentic. They were excellent value, too. At one spot we sat down with a group of young men and were sharing banana beer with them from a bucket that was going around, unforgettable! The landscape was incredibly beautiful with lush vegetation, streams and waterfalls. I full-heartedly recommend this tour company and I'm sure their Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar and safari options will be excellent as well. Planning an adventure with Eco was extremely simple, and I was given a very clear & precise list of what all would be included, this company is very available to reach out to, and they respond with answers to my questions usually the same day. Their support team is 2nd to none. The food that was included was bountiful and extremely delicious, and I never began or ended a day hungry. Their porters are the kindest and most supportive I’ve ever witnessed. I would absolutely plan another trek with Eco Trail Expedition, and I’d encourage you to do the same if an African adventure is on your list. David. Eco trail proposed the idea of visiting several wildlife reserves, and it turned out to be an incredible experience! We were a bit unsure at first, but they truly knew what they were doing. Each stop was more amazing than the last, and the wildlife encounters were unforgettable. It’s safe to say it exceeded our expectations, definitely a recommendation for anyone looking to connect with nature! 🌍🐘 Joyce van Seters2024-11-09Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We would absolutely recommend eco trail expedition! You will definitely have an unforgettable experience in Tanzania with them. The owners are from Tanzania, so they know the country and its customs well and will guide you through it. They make you feel very welcome and are happy to share all their knowledge about their beautiful country. They speak good English, communicate clearly and are helpful. For us a very big advantage of eco trail: they look after your interests as a tourist, but also think about nature and the local community. If we ever go back to Tanzania we will definitely come back to you :)Showing our latest reviews
